Sep 07, 2023Cobot adaptability on display at FABTECH 2022
Lincoln Electric demonstrated the versatility of its Cooper welding cobots, as well as introduced attendees to its Cooper App. The Cooper cobot delivers repeatable day-to-day, weld-to-weld flexibility. With the simple cobot programming app, operators pick a plate thickness, program a weld start and end point, and hit GO. A robotics expert is not needed to automate welding production, the company said.
Collaborative robots (cobots) have clearly reached a point where they are seen as an integral tool for shops that are trying to achieve more with fewer available skilled employees. The technology's breadth of applications was on display in many booths during FABTECH in Atlanta. Its adaptability to projects of any size and configuration was clearly demonstrated, as payload restraints have been challenged and more and more end effectors have been introduced.
Here is just a sampling of what was deemed possible.
